auto disconnect

I used to get a window that asked if i wanted to
disconnect to my isp server but now it is gone and i must
manually stop my connection. I have checked my internet
options and the use auto disconnect box is checked. Can
someone send me in the right direction to look for the
answer. Thank you for your time. Dave
