My Windows XP used to have a pop-up window prompt to
remind me to disconnect my dial-up connection when I shut
down Internet Explorer and/or Outlook Express. It no
longer comes up. How can I get it to function again? I
can't even find it anywhere.

Go to Control Panel
Click "Internet Options"
Click "Connections" TAB
Click "Settings"
Click "Advanced"
Check box that says "Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed"

That is very interesting...
I have never seen that message. Just tested for it by shutting down all my
IE screens, and no such message appeared.
Perhaps it is part of your ISP's software.

PS: if that is your real email, I guarantee that it will be harvested
electronically and used to send you spam and viruses.

HI, cimex

No, it is not an ISP thing. It is part of IE and is very useful if you are
forgetful (like me) and are on a dial-up. If you are on DSL, of course, you
don't need it . . . which is why there is the option of turning it off.

And you are correct about using real email address on news (SWEN is
backwards spelling of "news") groups.

Cheers,

Thanks, Smitty. Regarding the "SWEN" miscreants, they may be evil, but we
cannot say they lack a sense of humor.
