I want to know if WinXP is supposed to detect PS2 mouse or USB mouse
automatically (plug and play feature?? )?? The problem is that I need to
reboot the system after I plug-in the mouse. Otherwise, the mouse won't
work. It doesn't matter it is USB mouse, or PS2 mouse. Any ideas why? Please
advice! Thanks!!

If you plug the mouse in when the computer is running
then most likely you will need to restart. I havent
tried this in xp but in 98/se it needed a reboot

Doesn't need it in XP. Just had to plug mine back in (USB) after the cable
got yanked....

USB should redetect - PS2 probably will not. OTOH a PS2 one should be
reported by BIOS at boot, and a USB one may not be. . .
