Auto Complete (fill) causes Excel 97 to hang

When I drag the black box in the bottom right corner of a cell to
automatically fill the values down, excel hangs. Horizontally is it fine.
This happens with a few excel sheets. I've reinstalled excel and tried it
with new worksheets but it still hangs. Any ideas why?

That's unusual. Could it simply be that filling data down is trying to
calculate thousands of formulae, whereas, by the nature of the worksheet it
may not be calculating any formulae, but will definitely be calculating
less.

VLOOKUP, linked data etc can take a few minutes to calculate sometimes and
can look like a hang. 'Calculating' will normally show on the status bar
though

Chhers for this. I've fixed it. By re-registering Excel (run regserver) in
Dos it has for some reason resolved the problem.
