Auto-Archive Deleting Old Messages

Hi!

About six months ago I started to notice strange behavior with my
Auto-Archive. I performed an archive of my .pst file, and all the data that
was already in my auto-archive folder disappeared. The only data I had was
the most recently archived data. Egads! I stopped using Auto-Archive because
I couldn't determine the cause of the problem. Then I just upgraded to
Outlook 2003, and decided to try again. Manually archived all my "Sent" and
"Deleted" items to Archive.pst. And discovered the same problem-- the oldest
data in my Archive file is exactly as old as my most recently peformed
archive. Any ideas what could be going on? Thanks.

What delete options do you show under the Auto-Archive button on the
Advanced Options in the Tools Menu?

After furious head-scratching, Shelley asked this group:

At the moment I don't have auto-archive running, so all options are greyed
out. But when it is/was running, "delete old items" is unchecked, and the
default archive setting is to clear out items over 6th months old. In theory,
though, the "delete old items" option shouldn't affect items already in the
archive file, should it? The items I'm losing are not from the current
archive operation, but the previous archives, as if the archive process is
replacing rather than adding to the original archive....

Thanks for your quick reply.
