Hi all,
does anyone know if there is a way to apply global auto archive
settings in group policy to all of a users folders?

I would like to force an auto archive strategy on about 250 users.
I've moded a .prf file to enable auto archive, control where the
archive goes etc but I'd like the settings to be applied to all of a
users folders. For example, auto archive is not enabled on the inbox.
I'd like to be able to turn it on with zero user interaction. Anyone
ever done this or know if it is even possible?

Thanks!

Have you looked at the Retention Settings options in the group policy editor?

Thanks for the reply Sue.

I hadn't... I'm looking at them now:
User Configuration>Administrative Templates>MS Office Outlook
2003>Tools|Options>Other>AutoArchive>Retention Settings...

Don't messages affected by these settings get deleted or moved to
deleted items? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what happens when retention
policies are turned on, but I never want to delete any users email. I
just want to get it out off of the mailstore and into an archive after
60 days.

Am I on the totally wrong page?

Then you're probably out of luck. There's no policy to set archive settings on individual folders. The little work that has been done on programmatically setting archive options is documented at http://www.cdolive.com/cdo5.htm#ChangeAutoArchive, but it notes that it's not foolproof at all.
