Authenticating when domain unavailable

If an XP machine is part of a domain, and the domain is
unavailable, eg a laptop out of the office, what SHOULD
happen when a user with a domain account tries to log in?
Does it matter if the users profile is already on the PC?

Thanks

In theory XP should retain credentials of previous logons and let you in -
however I always do a couple of things IN the office to make sure things are OK
in these situations:-

Logon Locally as Administrator and add the Domain Administators account to the
local admins

Ditto for the user

User profiles are either local or roaming. If its roaming then XP may have
retained a cached local copy...though I am not sure about this - someone else
might be able to help you more.
