AudioManager.ax who owns it ? Nero 7 ?

for weeks, both on a separate XP machine, and this HP Vista machine, I spent weeks not being able to run the wave editor or trax thing in Nero.
I finally found something showing me the actual source of what was failing.

And it was AudioManager.ax in the windows/system32/ folder.

As a test, I copied it to another separate drive. Then renamed the original AudioManager_ax.bak.
Fired up nero7's wave editor without a glitch. Fired up the trax thing.also without a glitch.

I have a red speaker in my tray that goes to the RealTek Audio Manager. on my XP machine, I didn't have this RealTek Audio Manager.
I haven't found anything failing since I did the rename thing. But it would be nice to know where it came from.

Only useful info is 'windows shell command' to open this AudioManager.ax.
nothing on owner or other detailed file properties.

so does this file exist on your machine in the windows/system32/ folder ?
And do you know what program installed this ?

I don't have it. My knee jerk reaction would have been that it might have
something to do with a RealTek soundcard and/or might have been installed
with its drivers. However, unless such a card exists on the HP Vista
machine, the naming may simply be coincidental. The next step would be to
find common things you've installed on both systems, probably related in
some way to sound or disk burning as a lot of such software contains audio
features.

This would also include checking software mp3 players common to both systems
as well as any software you might have installed for a hardware mp3 player
you might own.

Not a good idea. I have hundreds of files that are IDENTICAL from XP to Vista.
The thing is to find out the owner of this particular program and tell them it's killing Nero's audio programs. I've already told Nero about it.

Well so far, nothing has crashed for the LACK of access to it. Only Nero WITH access to it.
So it may be days b4 I find it's owner. Or something else that absolutelyrequires it.
It would seem with Nero failing while loading it, that Nero requires it, but all that happened without access was Nero now works fine.

Course rundl32.exe crashes if I turn and cough.

I didn't say files, I said Applications he's installed, there is a
difference. He can try right clicking the file if he can find it and see
with what application it is associated but sometimes that doesn't reveal the
application or it may be associated with some driver for a device. So, he
may have to remove applications that he's installed on the new PC, one by
one until he finds the offending app.

You want to scroll back to the top to the line that begins 'Only useful info is 'windows shell command' to open this'
That's it, properties says diddly.
I've already copied and renamed the original to *.BAK. and things now work.
Nothing in daily usage has complained about not finding it. And trax and wave editor still work fine without it.
Maybe Vista doesn't dig into properties the way XP did.
