I've been having trouble with audio and video being out of sync in MMC
ever since they changed from recording from Line In to recording via the
WDM drivers. This change was noted on ATI's support site:

"With the introduction of WDM Capture Driver 6.14.10.6300 on ati.com (as
included in CATALYST 5.3), a new digital audio path is used for routing
sound from the ALL-IN-WONDER to the soundcard, for ALL-IN-WONDER 9600
Series or higher.
When running Multimedia Center's Initialization Wizard, you no
longer need to set up the external audio cable configuration.
You may detach the external audio cable that may be attached to your
soundcard's LINE-IN or MIC input jack."

Today, I noticed this entry on the site:

"Audio and video out of sync on some channels or recordings

The information in this article applies to certain TV Tuner products
under Windows XP Service Pack 2 (including Media Center Edition).

While watching TV or playing back captured video, audio may be out
of sync with the video. This issue is not specific to ATI, as it may
affect 3rd party TV Tuner / capture devices as well.

The following ATI products may be affected:

* E-HOME WONDER
* HDTV WONDER
* TV WONDER Series

Microsoft has posted Knowledge Base Article - 887131, stating a fix
is now available."

So, I took a look at the Knowledge Base article
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;887131
which states:

"SYMPTOMS
A problem may occur with audio and video synchronization when content is
captured and is played back by using certain TV capture cards in a
DirectShow filter graph.
CAUSE
Certain DirectShow filter graphs that are used to playback captured
content from a TV capture card may lack a correct reference clock. A
correct reference clock is required for correct audio and video
synchronization.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only
intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only
apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This
hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not
severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the
next release that contains this hotfix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support
Services to obtain the hotfix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product
Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs,
visit the following Microsoft Web site..."

This means that I have to contact the manufacturer of my PC and ask them
to get the file from MS. I have tried that before and it does not work.
So I would like to know if anybody else has managed to get the hotfix
and if it actually solves the problem?

Best regards,
Torben

I have a system with an AIW9600XT and a HDTV Wonder. I got the fix for the
HDTV Wonder before the change for the AIW and don't have the lip sync issue
with the AIW either. Don't remember the links or exact procedure but
basically follow the links to support where you can send question. Tell them
you have a lip sync problem with your AIW and want the fix(number). It
didn't cost anything. Somewhat of a PIA but worth it.
