Ok I accidentally deleted my audio program and don't know how to get it back!
My computer found the hardware "Multimedia Audio Controller" and it comes up
in the Hardware Update Wizard and I selevted to Install the software
automatically but it is telling me to insert the CD or floppy that came with
it. And this hardware was just on my computer when I got it so I have noting
to put in. So I just clicked next and it says that it was not installed
because the wizard could not find the necessary software. It says click back
if you have installation media such as a CD-ROM, or if you know the location
of the software. I just want sound back I dont care how!!!! Please help

Shelly - maybe thats what happened to me, although I have no idea how I would
have deleted my audio program. I have mediaplayer 10. It had audio before.
The other night I was trying to play a file I loaded from a DVD onto my hard
disc. I could not get audio to come on. Now, I have no audio with
mediaplayer10, whether I play from a disc or my hard drive. All other audio
features on my computer work fine. Does this sound like your problem? How
do I know if my audio program is deleted? Thanks. Oh, i did reinstall
mediaplayer 10, and I still have the problem. Thanks

The same thing happen to me today right after my computer did it's automatic
update, I've been working on it all day, Hope someone can help us soon, I
need my sounds man. Can anyone help us.

Sonny,

Have you figured it out yet? All the diagnostics I can find say everthing
is fine, but I still have no sound on mediaplayer10. I have sound on
everything else - but not on windows mediaplayer10. I can't figure it out, I
have tried everygthing that troubleshoot has!. Please reply if you figured
it out.

Larry

Sonny/Shelly don't know if you guys have had any luck or not. I'm giving up.
I can't get sound anymore out of mediaplayer10 - although it worked fine for
6 months. I have sound everywhere else on my computer, including on
mediaplayer10 on a short clip downloaded from the net and on the dell start
up clip. Its the .vob files from either the drive or the hard disc that have
no sound.

Things i tried: went thru the whole MSFT trouble shoot routine. Turned up
no hardware conflicts. My sound device is REalAudio8 and the Codecs
installed are the ones for REalAudio8 and which were installed on the
computer when I bought it - and which worked fine until 3 days ago. I
installed a program called Decoder Check Up Utility from the Microsoft
download site. It checked by DVD decoder and said it is fine. I ran check
for updates and it said I had the latest update and no further action was
needed. So its not the codec, its not the decoder. Oh, and before I did all
this, I reinstalled mediaplayer10. So screw it. I'm looking on the internet
for dvd player software to install. I give up on mediaplayer10. If u guys
figure it out, or can advise on another software for DVD please advise.

Larry, did your computer come with a recovery and applications cd, if it did,
the program you are looking for should be on there.

i have the basic msft system cd i think. it was all preinstalled by DELL.
But what program am i looking for? I reinstalled mediaplayer10 already from
the MSFT download site. The reinstalled version doens't work either. How did
you fix yours?
