Audio player with control over network?

Hello.

I am turning old PC into MP3/WMA/OGG/Audio-CD player. The PC will be left
hidden, and connected only to a set of speakers and to my LAN (so I can
upload/download files).

I want to be able to control the audio player over network.

Q: is there any freeware audio player that can be controlled over a
network?

There's also a telnet plugin for Winamp which can be extremely
handy. You can control the player from anywhere in the world,
send commands in batch files and scripts, etc, etc.
