Audio levels across cllips

Hi,

I'd like to play an imported song across multiple video clips. I want the
audio levels to change across clips, i.e. hear the video on some clips, hear
the songs on other and have a mix on the rest. How can I do this.

Thanks
Bill

Split the song on the timeline into multiple clips, at the points where the
video transitions are.... then adjust the level of the individual music
clips... right click on one at a time and adjust the volume level.

Hello,

The way I would do that would be to create the project of the video only and
then load your music into something like Audacity and edit all effects on the
audio whilst watching the preview of the video...then save the modified audio,
import it to movie maker and drop it on the lower of the two audio tracks, then
compile the full video to hard drive.

Links to Audacity are available in the "Great Links" section of my website.
Audacity is free and highly acclaimed.

PapaJohn: How exactly do I "split the song" into multiple clips. If I want a
song to play continuosly through the entire movie, but louder on some clips
and quiter on others, how would I do this?

Is it not possible to just adjust the audio for each video clip?

You would select the music clip on the timeline... then position the
playback control of the timeline to be positioned at the point you want to
split the audio clip... then use the Split Clip button (to the right under
the monitor or from the main menu > Clip > Split, or the Control-L keyboard
shortcut).

That'll split it at one point... do it again at the other points that you
want to change the volume.... once you have split the music into clips, you
can adjust the volume level of each clip.

Hello,

Is it not possible to just adjust the audio for each video clip?

Yes it is, but if you want to vary the volume you have to cut the clip into
very small sections and try to use a very tacky slider bar to raise and lower
the volume in as small an amount as possible...no matter how hard you try I
have found that you hear these steps in volume and its really naff for this
reason I use a program like MovieDV or its free brother MovieXone to alter the
volume in a smooth continuous operation....the way you would expect it to
happen. MovieXone is given away on cover disks (Usually PC UTILITIES)
