Audio gone after critical updates installed

on Nov. 20th I installed win xp Critical updates and now
the only audio I can here is from the pc mic (all other
audio sound is gone). Audio did work before and I can't
figure out how to reverse this problem. Can anyone help
or have some Ideas on what is going on?

Perhaps you inadvertently installed sound card drivers from Windows
Update. It's always a bad idea to get drivers from Windows Update. Try
reinstalling the sound card drivers from the mftr. If that doesn't
work, Kelly has a section called "Where did my sounds go?" on her
excellent site, here:
