Audio gets cut out

We have a project with a mix of video/audio, pictures and narration. We mute
the clips that we add narration over and it works, but at the next transition
after the video, it cuts off the narration in the audio/music line. We take
out the video clip and the narration continues. Why does the narration work
over the top of the video but then stops at the end? Thanks for any help you
can give us!

Not sure what you mean when you say
the narration cuts off. Do you mean it
comes to the end or do you mean it has
more content but just ceases to play?

The narration file should be independant
from the behavior of the video track.

Actually, you can drag the narration clip
right or left with the Hand by placing your
pointer on it. Place it anywhere you choose.

If the narration file is longer in duration than
the video clip...it should continue playing as
the Playback Indicator progresses across
the timeline.
