Audio broken

I have been running XP Pro /SP2 w/ Santa Cruz audio card. No problems for
years. Suddenly maybe two weeks ago audio from many sources no longer work.
What does work AIM audio, MSM audio, Windows Media Player.

What does not work, Any Windows sounds like startup, shut down. Application
program events like MS Money startup, No YouTube audio, Windows Control
Panel Sounds and Audio Devices Properties > Sounds >Program Events > the
play button is grayed out. No sound will play. Typical online video content
does not play.

I tried to roll back the registry to an earlier setpoint but it did not
help. I reinstalled the audio driver, no help. Any Ideas?
