Audio and Video out of sync

I recently bought a Sony DVD-RW. I added a new 2.0 USB port and added an additional 512 rams to my computer. I made a video that combines pictures and video clips into Microsoft Movie Maker 2. I was told that adding the USB port and additional rams would take care of the out of sync problem. Well, it hasn't. The first part starts out Ok but then the slide show goes a little too fast and throws the audio off. I worked long and hard on this project to start over. What's the problem? Any help would be great. Thank you!

Hello there,

If you have any MPeg, JPeg or MP3 files these may be the cause of your
trouble...converting them to AVI, BMP & WAV respectively might solve your
problem.

Another approach would be to break the project into sub-projects. ...Make a
project out of your still (Do not include any audio), save that as a DV-AVI and
import the resulting file to your main project replacing all of those stills.

Note
===

If it is the stills that are causing the problem there is a small but tedious
trick you can employ. In the sub-project put your stills in as before but make
the duration of each slightly more than you need. Create the DV-AVI File,
import that into the main project replacing the stills etc and then cut each
once and overlap it with itself, the end result will show nothing.

Thank you for responding so quicky! I appreciate the help. I find that very interesting. When I called Sony about it, they suggested the ilinks. When I went to the store to buy the USB port. I asked one of the employees in the department which they suggested I use for this particular activity, firewire or USB. They adamantly suggested the USB 2.0 port.

Please note that the following terms are synonymous as they refer tothe same
thing:

iLink = Firewire = IEEE1394

iLink is what Sony likes to call firewire whose technical name is ieee1394.

I finally figured out the problem. I went into the file in Movie Maker 2 and made sure the duration was set at 5 seconds. I also made sure the duration in Sonic MyDVD was at 5 seconds (default is at 2 seconds). I saved the file as an .avi file. It all works now. Thank you for your help!
