When i went to install my SB Audigy on Vista x32 the installer just sat there
saying "installing driver", 10 minutes later it would say "installer timed
out". I tried downloading the new drivers from Creative but that didnt seem
to do anything.

Help?!

Hi,

I had a similar issue. Creative doesn't supply a Vista driver at all for our
card it seems.

I tried the XP SP2 driver and get a nice Incorrect OS - You need Windows
2000 to install this product - error message.

I am running my WIN XP SP2 hard drive as slave and guess what, if I let
Vista look for the driver on my XP SP2 drive... magic happens and the card
installs itself.

Good luck and regards,

Ok, i spoke too soon.

Yes--- that did work to install the card; however, no sound comes out of it.
Which leads me to beleive that the XP driver doesnt exactly work for Vista.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Wait until Creative release some and if you can, use the onboard sound
for now if you have it.

Hmm,

It worked for me. Lets see... what version of the driver do you have
installed on the XP SP2 you are trying to install from.

Mine says :

Driver Provider : Creative
Driver Date : 21/10/2003
Driver Version : 5.12.5.441

Here are my HW vendor IDs... see if it matches up with yours:

PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00531102&REV_03
PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00531102
PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&CC_040100
PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0004&CC_0401

If you can confirm you have matching vendor IDs I can make a driver package
for you.

Kind regards,
