ATX12V connector on MSI KM4M - what for ?

The KM4M has both a standard ATX 20 pin connector and a 4 pin ATX12V
connector. Manual says the 4 pin connector is "used to provide power
to the CPU". Can someone explain what this means ? Which AMD Socket A
CPU requires this ?

no amd cpu NEEDS this. there is sufficent voltage through the socket.
however, 2 things it's good for.
1) cpu stability. some of the high end overclocking boards (epox 8rda3+
comes to mind) has it for overclocked environment stabilty.
2) some motherbaords require it to be connected for it to even start up,
some dont.

if you have the 12v 4pin plug then attach it, can only be a good thing if it
increases stability.
