Hmmm.....
Do a manual System Restore Point.
Then
Right click
My Computer
Go to Hardware Tab
Device Manager
Find your CD Drive
Hit the plus sign
Right click and uninstall
Re-Boot
Widows will find the drive and install the drivers, it uses the WinXP
drivers.
Try installing the stuff on the CD one at a time.
It isn't the end of the world to not have SecurDisc. Read up on it on
the web. Your drive is SecurDisc capable and it is just an added
'feature'.
I expect you should be okay. Odd the install choked.
BTW, I forgot I didn't even look at the install cd when I put in my LG,
since I already had all the burning programs I wanted.
BTW, LG looking at your drive is unlikely to hurt anything.
Then.....
Get this and install it, you will find it in Control Panel and the icon
is called "Startup"
Stop any of the Nero stuff from starting when you boot up, you need none
of it started to make Nero work.
Just uncheck what you don't want to start on boot.

Hello Wally,
Ok this is what I've done (its rather long but I wanted to give you as
much information as possible so you can advise):
I did a manual System Restore Point.
Then, right clicked >My Computer >Go to Hardware Tab >Device Manager
Find your CD Drive>Hit the plus sign>Right click and uninstall.
Re-Booted and came up fine.
Then I started to install the programs one at a time starting with
Install CDS and entered 'none' for company name however this time it
came back with the following messages which it didn't do the first
time.
*Found existing version of Power DVD and clicked to uninstall/install

I have no idea what these were but thought it best to say no since it
said it may prevent other applications from running correctly. I'm
wondering why it came up with these this time? Is there a way to
delete them still or should I?
It ended ok despite all these pop-ups, then the system did a reboot
and came up fine.
I then clicked on Install Nero, then selected Nero Express/Incd
It all installed fine with no pop-ups or problems, then the system did
another restart and came up fine.
I then clicked Nero again and selected SecurDisk but it gave me the
same message as it did before and wouldn't complete installation.
However there's a SecurDisk Viewer icon on my desktop. I opened this
and think perhaps I don't have a current version of Nero which came
with the LG drive which is why SecurDisk couldn't complete
installation although since both were on the same disk you would think
they would be compatible.
Along with the SecurDisk icon on my desktop I also have Lightscribe,
Cyberlink DVD Suite, Acrobat Reader 5.0, Nero online upgrade, and Nero
StartSmart Essentials.
I then did the Install Manual and that installed fine.
Note: The previous pop-up which asked if I wanted LG to look at my
drive and update automatically didn't show this time around.
I went to the Control Panel but I didn't see any icon called 'Startup'
and I switched from the category view to the classic view. In category
view all I see is
*Appearance and Themes
*Printers and other hardware
*Network and Internet connections
*user accounts
*Add or remove programs
*date, time, language and regional options
*Sounds, speech and audio devices
*accessibility options
*performance and maintenance
*security center
I opened each one up and saw nothing that said 'Startup'
The classic view contains:
*accessibility options
*add hardware
*add or remove programs
*administrative tools
*automatics updates
*day and time
*display
*folder options
*fonts
*game controllers
*internet options
*keyboard
*mail
*mouse
*Nero burnrights (I clicked this open and it says my serial number
does not allow to start this application maybe this has something to
do with me not being able to install SecurDisk?)
*network connections
*network setup wizard
*NVIDAnView
*phone and modem
*power options
*printers and faxes
*quick time
*regional and language
*santa cruz control panel
*scanners and cameras
*scheduled tasks
*security center
*sounds and audio devices
*speech
*system
*taskbar and start menu (I opened this up but didn't see anything with
Nero)
*user accounts
*windows
*wireless
I tried running a game I have on the drive and it worked ok.I would
appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
In passing, while installing the physical drive itself, I decided to
remove the 3 1/2 in drive as it was useless and thought it would improve
circulation and put a piece of thick black rubber to cover the front
to prevent dust etc from entering. I also noticed the hdd connectors
and could make out the slave since there was only one and hope it will
be a little easier software wise than this has been.
Many
Thanks,
I appreciate
all the help,
Robert
