Attempted System Restore and now blank screen on restart

I attempted a System Restore and when it restarted all I get now is a blank
blue screen with a mouse I can move.. I tried all the Safe Mode, Last Known,
etc. any ideas? This is what frustrates me with Microsoft products.

The system restore was because my parents (hoem for Turkey Day!) lost the
Autoplay function when a compact flash card with pictures was inserted. I
restored to fix the auto play of the photo wizard. One little problem spawns
a HUGE one!

I appreciate any help!

If you run an XP "Upgrade"setup, from the original, or "Gold" version of the
setup CD, and you have SP2 installed, it will go into a setup loop, and you
will lose your install. Uninstall SP2, BEFORE you do a Upgrade setup from CD
(that lacks sp2 on it.)
