Windows Vista Mail does not open attachements. Unticked the "do not open" and
checked everything under preferences.
Can not find the reason for attachments not to open. Window opens up to say:
not enough disk space.
Have at least 60GB space left

This problem may be caused by an incompatible antivirus.
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
and Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

It may be caused by your anti-virus. What AV program are you using? Is
it Vista compatible?

What kind of attachments?
(What is the entire filename?)
