At the very top of your open message (above the menu bar)
the subject line of your message will show, along with they
type of message (HTML, RTF, etc).
However, I use the "Paperclip" as a signal that there is an
attachment in my message. If you are in the default view for
your messages in Outlook, to the left of the subject::
(paper clip) icon = If a paperclip shows next to the message then
an attachment is present.

It seems as if the attachments don't show up on the 'bar' if the mail is
in Plain Text.
I'll have to get used to the paperclip (or go back to Thunderbird)
