Attachments, and Undeliverable: Relaying denied. Proper authentication required

I tried to send out an e-mail with a lot of attachments (900K)--3 seconds after hitting the send button the mail bounced back, with a title "Undeliverable" from "system administrator"

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
'(e-mail address removed)' on 11/8/2003 1:01 AM
550 5.7.1 <[email protected]>... Relaying denied. Proper authentication required.

However, when I try to send a test e-mail to myself later (without any attachments)--the mail went through and I successfully received the mail I sent out.

Well this never happened before. My ISP just experienced a outage when I was out today. After returning home, the service was back, albeit having the newe conditions as mentioned above.

Why? Thank you!

send a test message to an account not on your isp server - they may allow
local mail but have it misconfigured for internet mail.

This is what I do

Tool -> e-mail accounts -> view or change existing accounts -> change ->

And hit "test account settings.

Then I did receive the e-mail that I sent to myself. It said:
This is an e-mail message sent automatically by Microsoft Outlook's Account Manager while testing the settings for your POP3 account

But, when I went back to send regular e-mail to individuals not in my own domain name, they are bounced back againâ€

The problem persists---What should I do
