Attaching Word to Outlook and not able to send unless you close Wo

We have a issue with Office 2007 that we just installed. When we attach a
word document to an email and we go to look at that attachment before we send
to make sure we have th right one, after we see its correct, we close the
document but NOT Word...when we try to send the email we get an error that
says:
THE ATTACHMENT "NAME OF ATTACHMENT" FROM THE MESSAGE ""IS OPEN OR IN USE BY
ANOTHER APPLICATION. iF YOU CONTINUE, YOU WILL LOSE ANY CHANGES YOU MADE TO
THE ATTACHMENT THAT IS USING THE OTHER APPLICATION. DO YOU WANT TO
CONTINUE?.....YES OR NO
Is there anyway to release that document from Word so the email can be sent?

Why not simply send the open document as attachment from Word? Then you will
know you have the right document. Office Button > Send.
