Attaching a Picture as a 'signature'

Maybe signature isn't the right word, but this is what I'd like to be able
to do.

When I send an e-mail, I would Outlook to automatically embed a picture of
myself at the end of an e-mail. Basically, I want a kind of 'business card'
(but not a vcard) to be embedded IN the e-mail. So, I'm imagining a small
picture of myself and then my contact info formatted as you might expect to
see on a paper business card. What would be the best way to do this?

Also, even though I can reduce the size of the picture, is there a way to do
this that won't burden my Exchange Server? Potentially everyone in the
office would do this if we can make it look professional.

Try to set up a signature in html format, and include the image (jpg for
instance) in it. We do something similar in my office and it works. You can
cusomize font size/color and even put .gif animations if you want!

go to tools > options > mail format tab > signatures button > follow the
instructions.

When I go to the signature editor, plain text is my only option. I can
click on the "Advanced Edit" button, but that only loads the file into
WordPad. If I attempt to hand-code HTML tags, they are not rendered as HTML
(meaning the HTML tags get rendered as text) in my signature when I create
an e-mail. I'm using Outlook 2000. I don't know if that matters. Also,
I'm not using Word as my e-mail editor. Does that make a difference?

You don't need Word as email editor in order to have the signature in HTML.
What you need to activate is "html" as your email format (in the same mail
format tab) in order to have "html" signaures available.

Create a HTML signature file, and place the SRC for the
image file in a location that everyone has access to. You
will need to ensure that the IMGSRC code in the HTML file
identifies the correct location & filename for the
pictuire your using.

If you want to be able to send your signature (including
image) to people external to your office (ie: SMTP email),
you will nee to host the image on an Internet Webserver
somehwre. The IMGSRC will then need to point to the
webserver location/file name.
