Attached files open as read only

All of the word files that i recieved as attachments open automatically in
reading layout. I rather have them open in a different view. They also open
as read only. I just want them to open in a regular view in a regular format.

Tools | Options | General: clear the check box for "Allow starting in
Reading Layout." They may be Read Only because they were copied from a CD.
