Unable to say how it started but this annoying warning box appears on my
desktop on completion of startup:
"Can not run Unicode of ATL.DLL on Windows 95,Please install correct
version."

1) I am running winxp pro!
2) Recent installations are...MSN messenger, and AOL...& reinstall of my BT
Broadband....
3) I have searched GOOGLE but out of many suggestions none are a help to my
specific problem.
4) I do not run any Visual Studio or similar.
5) In my Win\Syst & Win\Syst32 folders I have several enrties relating to
different applications.
6 ) There is a file named "ATL.ZIP" in my Win\Syst folder.???
7) I have run my spyware and anti-virus programs...still the same after.

I am still able to run all my programs by ignoring the above warning box or
just clicking ok button to clear.
I wish to know how to get rid of it please.

TIA

Hi,

Sounds like one of the programs tried to install an older version of that
file. Disable any newly installed programs one at a time, rebooting in
between, to see which one is calling that file (I would start with any AOL
software). You may need to expand a new copy from the
C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles folder to the \System32 folder to fix this.
