After updating ati ccc today to 8.1 i now have in the top left hand corner of
my screen a tiny white square, about 3/32 square.
Can some wise owl tell me what it is and why does it appear, it is obviously
some thing to do with ati,but what.?

Sounds like a stuck pixel.

Try turning your monitor on and off a few times.

Try reinstalling the ATI software.
Reboot your computer.

Uninstall the recent ATI drivers.
Reinstall same or older version.

Or, "Roll Back Driver".

Yeah everyone who updated to 8.1 has the same thing. We don't see any
functional problems with 8.1...at least not yet...just the white dot in
the upper left hand corner.
