--System specs below--

[CAT 4.5]

"timedemo demo1"
1024x768 (D3-High Quality) 4x-AA 16x-AF = 24.2fps
1024x768 (D3-High Quality) NO-AA 8x-AF = 46.5fps

[CAT 4.9 beta]

"timedemo demo1"
1024x768 (D3-High Quality) 4x-AA 16x-AF = 22.3fps
1024x768 (D3-High Quality) NO-AA 8x-AF = 46.5fps

WTF?! Gained nothing at all with high AA and AF.... actually lost 2fps at
low AA and AF.

Very dissapointing.

Hi,

Anti-Aliasing and Anistropic Filtering.

Go to the 3D tab under display properties.
click open gl or D3D custom tabs.
You can either tick for application preference or manually change for
Quality or Performance.

Try some of the settings and give the game another go to see how looks or
performance has been affected.

humph, I was hoping for an all round opengl patch for all cards

D

Dreamaker

Same here.

Maybe the increase in performance is again what are ati are for quality "in special effets of all
kind in the game play" and it not visible from a sintetic benchmark because the image quality have
change but the frame rate...

anyway this as to be "deepening"

Please post your benchmarks pre and post 4.9 beta.

Otherwise, your analysis of 4.9's performance is subjective at best.

What fps did you get before and after at identical resolution, refresh rate,
color depth, AA, AF, and Doom3 quality settings with Vsync Off please.

Dunno.

Just ran slicker when enemies were about.

T

without doing a "timedemo demo1" (do this at least twice in a row because a
lot of game content is loaded during the first run from the hard drive
skewing results) at the console for both cat versions to get your average
FPS for that run. Then compare the two. Otherwise you could quite possibly
be imagining the speed improvement... ya know... placebo effect.

S

Silt

It's the placebo effect ATI is going after.

Wow, is saying "placebo effect" the new 'cool' phrase nowadays?
Christ I swear I've read it 200 times the last week in gaming posts.
