I am trying to install a ati all in one 9200 and when
the comp starts up, the hardware wizard automatically
states that the data is invalid. I had the leadtek ti
200 and have already tried the pnpreg -l command and
nothing happens. I've uninstalled all drivers and
EVERYTHING from the old card. PLEASE HELP! Thankyou in
advance

So why are you installing drivers and everything from the old card?
Did yr ati not come with any?

I already have... I didnt say that I am installing the
drivers for the old card. I said I already UNinstalled
those drivers. I have been using the jv power tools
registry tool to look for and clean alot of junk that has
to do with winfast and winfox and nvidia, but I still get
the data is invalid message with the hard ware wizard.
Also, if I just ignore that and try to install the
catalyst drivers (newest ones) it just says I need to set
up my display adapter with a standard vga... well, i cant
because when you uninstall the drivers for the geforce 3
ti 200, the display adapters and monitors disappear in
the device manager.

Do not ignore NewHardware wizard errors, fix them first.
You would boot into Safe mode and uninstall Nvidia drivers.

Well, that's already been done aswell. I just booted
into safe mode just now, and the hardware wizard popped
up, but it DIDNT say data was invalid, it was the normal,
window message asking for normal or advanced install.
Well, I cancelled that and I went to install the ati
catalyst drivers, but it said there was no hardware for
the drivers to be installed. I then tried the wizard
and it seemed as if it was going to work, but it just got
to the end and said that the data was invalid....
sheesh.. I just dont know what else to do!!! But thanks
for the help so far!

Hi

Hi

Try this way

Use the old vedio card and start the computer. Re-install the nvidia drivers when prompted and then reboot
After reboot, check to ensure the drivers has been installed properly

Right click on desktop/properties, change the display resolution to VGA mode and do not reboot now
Go to control panel/add or remove program and remove the nvidia drivers and then reboot
After reboot, if the display adapter is VGA, it is OK then shutdown the PC
Remove the old display card and replace with the ATI card
Restart the computer, temporarily disable any antiVirus software and must not run any application
Double click the catalyst driver icon and let it run automatically, do not disturb until you are prompted to do so

Post back if you still encountered problems

Pete

Good advise Peter,

I had similar problems installing my ATI AIW 8500. I also
had to reset the video to VGA then uninstall and reboot
using the microsoft video drivers. Form there ignore the
New hardware wizzard, and proceed with ATI installation.
I cannot stress enough to you to follow the ATI driver
installation instructions EXACTLY as ATI states. Install
the components as stated and you should be ok.

Ok, I'm fixing to try that. I still think that I will
not be able to see my display adapters on reboot (after
uninstalling ti 200 that is). but Thanks for the advice,
I didnt think about that.

Well, I tried all of that.. but to no avail. The ONLY
thing that was different is that when the old card was in
I didnt have a vga mode to choose. I had to restart and
press f8 to chose enable vga mode. But still I got the
same message "data is invalid". Also, I still get the
try to install a standard vga driver message if I try to
install the catalyst drivers. Oh well, any more ideas??

Just curious, but how up to date are your motherboard
drivers and bios? I know some boards in the past had
problems with certain video cards and updated drivers on
the motherboard helped. I had a problem with a gerforce
in the past and the chipset did not work well with it til
VIA fixed that and I remember last year that same chipset
had problems with Radeon cards, especially when the 9700
pro came out. Hope that helps you out because I know that
type of frustration.

well, I have already updated my bios ,and my mother board
is fairly new. I still think this problem has to do with
the fact that I had the leadtek geforce3 ti 200 and the
fact that.. well.. just read
here...http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?
scid=kb;en-us;810509 But I have used that, and I have
cleaned the living crap out of my registry... ugh..

If you do not cancel NewHardware wizard it should finish installing the
unknown video adapter in VGA mode and reboot. From that point you can
proceed with ATI drivers. Could you post the exact error message?
