Hi guys,
I had a post awhile ago saying that I needed to reflash my x800 pro bios
card...
(e-mail address removed) said that I should go to http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/
and check out what they had there.
Ok, well I've done that and downloaded the correct Bios for my card, and
the flash utility.
Now my problem is how to I flash it?
I'm not too keen on all the switch and dashes that are needed in the DOS
window. I tried the win flash utility but I got an error "Error reading
ROM".
So now I really don't know what to do, but I have downloaded the flash
utility and the correct bois (at least the one that's listed on that site)
Let me just put all my cards on the table so you know what’s going on
exaclly.
I have a x800 Pro 256 AGP card i got from my friend. I got it from him
because he got it from his friend who original tried to flash this bois
to a XT plat version.I know this because when i psychically install the
card, windows 'detects' an XT plat x800 ati card, and asks for drivers.
Now before you say why don't I just use it as is... well I would but
seeing how this card has already been pasted down from 2 people says
something. The problem is whenever I go into a 3d game like quake, doom,
Vietcong, Unreal 2004 the game loads… but after a given 30 seconds the
system locks up. Anything 2d is fine - winxp run’s with no problems,
word, viewing pictures, etc etc.. It just seems like ANYthing 3d will
lock up the system with it’s current bois setting – I’m guessing.
So the card made its way eventually to me and I would like to flash it
back to the normal settings. I’m not really for all the tweaking and
getting more juice out of something just for the fact I don’t want to
deal with problems such as this. However the original guy who owed the
card just went out and paid for something better and the 2nd guy got a
better hand me down from his brother. I’m currently working with an ATI
8500 64 meg and would really REALLY like to try and get this running. So
I don’t mind dealing with theses problem especially since all I paid was
a half mile trip to my friends house to get it.
Any help is appreciated, thanks a lot.
