ATI RADEON Causing Freeze?

I am reading with some interest about system freezing issues with the nVidea
card, and I am seeing some of the same issues but using an ATI Radeon 5500
(256 MB). DeLL system with 2 MB ram, clean install of Home Premium. Every
once in awhile the system becomes unresponsive with a steady HD light, then
all of a sudden "lets go" and returns to normal.

Anyone have any idea what is causing this??

ATi doesn't make a 5500.

That would be an nVidia card.

The lowest number on any Radeon was the 7000 which was a value model with
the original Radeon being the 7200.

No probs with ATI Radeon here but you have a Dell and that is more likely
the problem. Sorry if that sounded facetious but it honestly was not meant
to.
