ATI Radeon 9600 driver installation

Paul

I recently installed an ATI 9600 pro but windows will not
allow me to install the drivers for it. I've dowloaded the
latest catalyst drivers from ATI and all of my chipset
drivers are up to date. I get a message that tells me data
is invalid and to try installing a standard VGA driver
before attempting to install.I also used windows update
but it failed during installation. I'm stuck and need some
help.

Download the files to desktop, then open device mgr,R.

of device mgr.,shut-down,install ATI card, tap the
F8 key on restarting,select safe-mode,run xp as adm.,load
ATI in desktop.
The ATI card must be installed to load catalyst

I just posted to a related thread above "Problem with ATI driver" regarding
v3.9 Catalyst installation failures. Check and see if your issue is
related. For most of us adversely affected by v3.9, the only solution is a
regression install to v3.8 or earlier. ATI is well aware that there are
some serious issues with v3.9.
