ATI Overdrive

I bought a Radeon AGP X850 XT video card and the Catalyst has an
overdrive option. How much of an advantage does this overdrive give
you and how hot does the ATI video card get when you use this option?
I ask because I already overclock my CPU and it can get pretty hot
inside my case.

Overdrive automatically overclocks the video card and continuously adjusts
the clock speed so the GPU stays below a really conservative temperature
threshold. Even then, there's a hard limit set 10% (or was it 15%?) above
the default speeds. You are much better off not using Overdrive and just
overclocking manually, pushing the speeds up a little at a time and using
the utility ATiTool to scan for artifacts.
