When my windows xp sp2 pc strarts up or reboots lately, resolution changes to

have the resolution setting permanantly set to 1152x648 when my computer is
booted up or restarted like before? Now, when my pc turns on, the resolution
is 848x480 and everytime by hand i have to change it to 1152x648. can i have
the computer makes the 1152x648 as default? i have tried everything like
getting new driver and trying the force option in the ati's catalyst software

have you tried using the Catalyst Control Center to set your resolution and see if it sticks that way.

yes, i've tried changing the resolution in the ati catalyst software but it
doesn't stick after i reboot. ATI told me to download the latest catalyst
software but it still didn't work.

I also have another problem. Everytime i launched ATI TV software, it hangs
up after a few minutes and and the picture stalls and i can't do anything
like exit out. Control, alternate, and deleted and choosing end task, it
still doesn't do anything so i have to reboot. do you have any suggestions?

Yeah, now THAT problem I can help you with real easily: Don't use ATI
TV anymore! The ATI TV application is infested with bugs--I don't know
if they're in the code or some incompatibility with their own drivers.
One of the most annoying bugs is that if you run ATI TV and then have
windows of certain other applications overlapping on top of the ATI TV
window, ATI TV will eventually freeze up, and even the Windows Task
Manager can't get rid of it. I was never able to run Netscape together
with ATI TV because ATI TV kept hanging up. I've even had occasional
incompatibilities with Internet Explorer. It seems that only text-based
applications (like Notepad or GNU Emacs) don't bother it. Another bug:
If you minimize the ATI TV window--even once--it sometimes freezes up
when you try to exit it later. There are lots more bugs I found but
they're not germane to the problem you're asking about.

So I learned the hard way to exit ALL OTHER applications before running
ATI TV--don't run any other applications till you exit ATI TV. And when
ATI TV runs, NEVER minimize its window or you're dead meat.

Does anyone know of another TV application that works better than ATI TV?

I am VERY dussapointed with the tuner performance of the ATI TV tuner on my X1300 based all in wonder. All channels above 62 have a fuzzy mostly B&W picture while a real TV using the same cable is perfect, I love the video performace abdno problem with video drivers.
I hace all the latesr code!
