ATI Advanced Desktop Utility Error

When I startup my laptop, I receive a messaged which reads "ATI Advanced
Desktop Utilities failed to initialize because no ATI driver is installed or
ATI driver is not working properly, application will exit shortly."

Any suggestions on how I can stop this error message from appearing?

goto add/remove programs remove the ati driver/software and reinstall
