.asx error - cannot find server

Windows Hi
I have xp pro with IE6 and Media Player 10

I am trying to play an .asx file from this link to windows media:
http://www.abc.net.au/science/broadband/catalyst/asx/virusbusters_hi.asx
And it only comes up with the usual dead link "cannot find server page".

Whilst this link to real player:
http://www.abc.net.au/science/broadband/catalyst/asx/virusbusters_hi.ram
Plays in windows classic player without any problems.

I would prefer the first option to work as this gives me more controls.
Is this my setup or a fault with the ABC.net server.

Thanks in advance Wombat

Hi Wally,

Check your file associations for ".asx" files - Windows
Explorer>Tools>Folder Options - File Types tab. It should be associated to
open with Windows Media Player.

There is also an option in the later versions of WMP to select the file type
associations for media files.

Regards.

Thanks for the help
I had already checked the file association in winows Tools>Options>File
types; and this was set to play asx files in media player.
However I went to Media Player and checked the associations there, and the
option was ticked but greyed out. Reticking this has solved the problem and I
can now get media player to stream the media.
Goes to show it's always those little ticks!
Thanks again
