ASUS P4PE-X motherboard

I cannot hear the speakers.

I used windows Volume Control, but it does not affect the volume level at all.
Inside the Volume Control, in the Propertities window, I can see SoundMAX
Digital Audio as Mixer Device, so I know I get the driver installed.

I used another sound card detached from another computer to test, the speakers,
CD drive, and the Windows Volume Control all work well.

Please help.
