Asus A8N SLI lock up problem...

I built a computer for a friend with a basic A8N SLI with the nVIDIA nForce
4 LAN and he's having problems keeping his internet connection. He says
he'll be surfing just fine for days and then all of a sudden he will loose
internet connection and his nic will just say "trying to connect to server"
He's called Comcast and they've checked everything from their end and can't
find any problems. He can reboot but the probem's still there, if he tries
to put his system in sleep mode via his keyboard the system just hangs
before it go's down, but if he power's down for say 30 minutes then
everything starts working again. The system is running XP home and I
installed all the latest updates for the OS and the latest BIOS for the
motherboard. The only other thing I put on the system was the Norton
Internet Security that came with the motherboard. I don't see any problems
with the NIC so the only thing I can figure is that it might be Norton, but
I don't use that brand of software and don't really know anything about it.

Does anyone here have any suggestions? Or has anyone had simular problems
with the mobo or possibly Norton?

If he has updated the ethernet driver from Windows Updates, that is the
problem.
Uninstall the Marvel Yukon from Network Adaptors in Device Manager.
Re-install it using the driver from the Asus CD.

Make sure that when you go to Windows Updates you select "Do not show this
update" so It won't update the driver again.

If the LAN 2 port (Marvell 88E81001 Gigabit LAN controller) is not being
used it should be disabled in BIOS. This will prevent the driver getting
installed for a device that is not being used. If this port is being used
you can also download the latest driver from Marvell's web site, Version
8.41.1.3 released on October 11, 2005, this driver doesn't have the lockup
problem.

On my A8N-SLI Premium, I only use the LAN 1 port (nVIDIA nForce 4 Gigabit
MAC), which works great. I don't use the ActiveArmor feature. I just use
the latest nVIDIA nForce 4 chipset drivers from nVIDIA's download site which
contains the Ethernet driver for this port.
