A8N SLI NIC problems?

Has anyone had any problems with their network interface on the A8N SLI? I
built one for a friend with all the latest updates installed... everything
was working great for about a week and then he lost internet connectivity.
He uses Steam and it wouldn't connect when he booted up, and then locked up
the computer for about 5 minutes after it said no connection found. He
called Comcast and they said everything was fine to the cable modem and they
had him release and renew the NIC but it wouldn't renew. I'm going by
tonight to check things out but I wanted to check in here to see if anyone
else had any problems like this...

Which LAN port is being used?

If you're using the Marvell LAN port, what is the version number of the
Marvell driver are you using? If its v8.35.2.3 you may encounter system
lockup. The latest version, v8.39.3.3, doesn't have this problem.

I use the nVIDIA nForce 4 LAN port on my A8N-SLI Premium and don't have any
problems. The nVidia LAN port is the preferred port since it uses slightly
less system resources.

If he's using the NVIDIA firewall, try turning it off. It seems rather
problematic for many people.
