ASUS - 2100 vs 3200 RAM?

I have been going crazy on trying to get an answer on this, I am
getting ready to abandon my old AMD cpu and go with a 3.0 GHz w/ ASUS
P4P800. I already have 1 gig of ram (2X512) but the ram is PC2100, in
short is the 1 gb of the PC2100 faster than 512 of PC3200? Am I
correct in saying the the ASUS P4P800 will support the 2100 ram?

If your p4 has 800 fsb you'll want at least pc3200 and in dual channel mode
you need a matched pair. (2x512)

Dump the 1 GB of PC2100 RAM; it'll slow your 3.0GHz CPU system to a crawl.
The CPU only works as fast as the speed of the RAM feeding it. Use 512MB of
PC3200.

Sure it will. I just finished one, and had the same agonizing feeling. I had
already bought four, 256mb sticks of PC2100, but would it work with 800mhz
FSB? Will four sticks work in dual channel? Well, I'm sure my speed is
somewhat restricted by the PC2100, but they do work quite well, and do work
in the dual channel mode.

I did upgrade to the latest BIOS version before I did much else, and I think
I read something about better memory flexability with the new BIOS (014?)

No speed tests yet, but it's burning the skin off anything I ever owned or
tested before. (small town here... heh.....heh....)
