associations

When I receive e-mail there maybe a an attachment that is in the body of the
e-amail directing me to another location in the sender's website. However
when I click on it I receive a message that I need to set an association. I
could do this but don't know what type of "file" I need to associate withand
what program I need to run. I have not had this problem with other MS
operating systems. Can some one help me? I am a novice and don't understand
all the computer lingo.

Can you click on the paperclip near the top right corner of the message
and find the file name of the attachment? Tell us the extension, which is
the part of the file name starting with the last period.
