ASP in Front Page and Access Databases

G

Guest

Dear Sirs,
Since some time now I try to create an ASP Pagge based on an Access table. I
was wondering why it never worked. Today I got the following message from my
Server:"We are sorry to let you know that using FrontPage to work with an
Access DB requires a MS Windows platform, whereas our server is a Unix
platform.
The alternative would be to use ASP pages not generated by FrontPage."
Can someone help me in terms of giving me any idea which program I should
use to create my ASP pages? and - Is it possible to find a program where you
can choose the platform? Do I need to change aswell my database or does an
Access database works on a Unix platform?
Many thanks in advance
Klaus

Access will run from a Unix server, it is a file server database and
processing usually does take place on the workstation. ASP needs IIS to run
and that requires a Windows server. You could access your database by runing
Cold Fusion with Apache on a Unix server. You could also use a non-Microsoft
database on the Unix server.
