ASMS file missing during unattended setup

I'm installing XP SP2 from a network share using
'.\winxp\i386\winnt.exe /s:\\server\winxp\i386 /t:c
/u:.\unattended.txt'

The problem arises at the first GUI screen(installing windows) in the
form of an input box asking for the location of 'asms' file.

I've read couple of posts on the topic but none have the complete
answer, only workarounds (restart the computer using boot disk, copy
the ASMS folder to %systemdrive% and continue with the setup) that
beat the whole purpose of unattended install with a stick...

?

I'm having the exact same problem. I am a bit relieved to finally see I'm
not the only one though. Does anybody have any ideas on this?
