Arrows!

This maybe easy for someone who knows but I when I go to
the drawing toolbar then change autoshape and try to click
on the arrows, all the options are shaded out - WHY?
This is the same on my old laptop running version 97 and
my desk PC running 2000.
Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks in advance.
 
Are you highlighting an auto shape to change? If you click on the autoshape
you want to change the arrows(and all others) are then no longer shaded out.
