Arranging child folders' columns like the parent's

Is there any way to tell Windows XP to lay out (i.e., arrange the columns
of) all subdirectories of a certain folder just like the original folder
is laid out?

In either My Computer or Windows Explorer, open the folder that you want to
use as a template for the others, click the Tools menu, click Folder
Options, click the View tab, click the Apply to all folders button, click
the APPLY and OK buttons.

Thanks much for replying. I just need to verify ... Are you /sure/ that
this won't screw up my layout in other folders? For example, if I open up
C:\DOS in Explorer and I use this technique, will it only apply to folders
/inside/ of C:\DOS and /not/ to other folders, such as C:\WINDOWS? Thanks.

No. You can only apply one folder layout to all folders via Tools >
Folder Options.

I don't know of any automated way to do it, but you could do the
considerably more annoying (imo) "remember each folder's view settings" (in
Explorer, Tools > Folder Options > View, make sure the above option is
checked).
