Arrangement Desktop Icons

I have a lot of icons on my desktop and have them organised they way I want
them. When I first run a newly installed program that does not start up at
the resolution I use, the icons always get messed up until I set the program
to use the same resolution. It happens quite often and is very annoying
when it happens. I have started to create a restore point before I try a
new program just so that I can get back the arrangement of my desktop.

Is there some way to get Windows XP Pro not to do this - maybe tell it to
lock the resolution so some ignorant program cannot cause this problem?

Run the edit on Kelly's site, line 188 right hand side, "Add Save &
Restore Desktop Layout to Menu" at:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Instructions for running the edit are at the top of the page. This will
create two items in the right click connect menu when right clicking on
a blank area of the desktop, to save and restore the arrangement of icons.
