i understand from area code rules help
that if i want to dial someone in another city using phone dialer by
creating a
rule i don't need to dial area code of that person everytime that i dial
that person's number,
i did so but it didn't work.i mean i dialed just the subscriber number but
his area code had not been dialed automatically

It depends. Where I live we have to use all ten digits even for local
calls. But (from a landline) we don't have to prefix the ten-digit
number with a "1" unless we're calling an out-of-the-area number. You
may live in an area where you only need seven digits, and dialing ten
digits for a local number won't work.

You need to find out the rules in your area. Check the front pages of
your phone book, or call the pone company or check their web site
(good luck!).
