Are you looking to buy Retail WinXP Pro at a cut rate price?

1. Qualify for a Complimentary Windows Genuine Advantage Kit

2. License a Windows Genuine Advantage Kit Online for US $149.00

Okay, why not go for it. They want to make me better deals to be a
Pirate than for being the honest buyer of their software that I have
been since Windows 3.1 days. Get a pirated version off Ebay or at a
local flea market for $5 and then go for the deal.

Goto the site you mention and fill it out:

My location is: United States

1. Qualify for a Complimentary Windows Genuine Advantage Kit

2. License a Windows Genuine Advantage Kit Online for US $149.00

Okay, doing a test run I select United States for the Region and then
select #1.

I get this:

"The Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows XP Professional is not
currently available in the region you have selected. For this limited
trial period, the Windows Genuine Advantage Kit for Windows XP
Professional is only available in the United States."

Uh, a big DUH! I selected "United States" Lets try #2 and see if M$
could at least get that one right.

Nope, got the same thing.

So here it is... M$ logic says that if you live in the Region "United
States" then you do not qualify for the deal because the deal is only
for people living in the Region "United States". You would think this
type of logic would be the same kind as that behind stuff like Product
Activation, you know, where honest people have to prove they didn't
pirate the software after buying it while the REAL pirates don't have
to activate. With each passing day, these people amaze me even more
and more with the logic they invent.

Hate to tell you this but "complaining" got all those people begging from
you their "free stuff"......lol

It would sort of be like me getting upset because all the people in my
neighborhood get to hang around all day, drink, get high and get free
stuff from the government for doing absolutely nothing but suck money
out of my wallet, when I have to wake up facing a two hour commute,
work 9 hours, face a two hour commute home only to have these
freeloaders beg me for money as I approach my corner. It sucks but
I'd rather build my own machine with a legit copy of XP Pro in it. I
wish I could put the one copy in all 5 of my machines but I can't. Oh
well. $130 is not that much money for an OS that works pretty darn
good and I'm not a rich man. I might not agree with those freeloaders
getting it for half price but I doubt if my getting upset about it
and contacting Microsoft to rant about it would change anything. I
know for a fact that if they stopped it, the price XP would not go
down any. :)

Well, all I know is that nothing will happen if you don't complain about
it.

MS does and says things that it thinks that it can get away with, and
waits to see if it gets any reaction. No reaction, MS will just keep
pushing.

A friend of mine bought a copy of XP Pro on EBay that "turned
out"(ahem) to be a "corporate"(prated) version.He bought it trough
PayPal so he got about 75%( $50.00 ) of his money back through their
buyer protection program. If he goes through the MS program and
requirements he will end up with a fresh, legit copy of XP Pro for
$25.00 ! Where do I sign up?

http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/purchase/BuyNow.aspx

And as we already found out, it is only available in the US.

Dude, expressing an opinion isn't "yelling", I stick up for myself and what
I believe and refuse to be shat on, that's all. Try it and maybe you can
give up that dismal 2 hour commute some day ;-)

Then I'd have to spend 4 more hours in the Ghetto each day. Can't do it. I'll
take the 4 hour round trip to Park Avenue.

I do see it as some advantages to this.
If you unknowingly purchase the oses not knowing if this is pirated.
You already spent money on the operating system.

But if you brought a legit copy, you've paid more for a "pirate copy" + MS
WinXP discounted (maybe free) copy.

MS backs the looter.

After sticking his head out from his XP firewall, Jim had this to say:
Not only that but legitimate buyers of XP are subsidizing the pirates!
No they're not. They're subsidizing Micro$oft.

MS is a looter. So why be surprised if it backs a looter?

Did I read this right? Hold on, is my heart still beating? Don't tell me you
have finally seen the light? Rather than bitching about MS, you're finally
taking some construction action. It's a good first step. :) You are to be
applauded.

Actually that isn't far from the truth.

I have one wireless keyboard operating 2 computers, and the "ght" post

Dude, you always misunderstood me. I've always planned to move, I'm
just not gonna do it overnight. And I'll still attack MS for my fellow
consumers. As the largest corporation developing technology to control
human action, they deserve it.
