Are there supposed to be two processors in my device manager?

Becky

I am running on windows XP media center edition and found
there are 2 processors (Pentium 4) under my device
manager. Is there two necessary or can I remove one and
see if my computer will perform better?
I am also having problems with my picture from the cable
that is going through MyTV. It was working fine and now
it is snowy. We have also since had all programs slow
down greatly, which lead me to believe there was
unnecessary duplicate processors. Please help!

Don't remove anything. Does your computer support hyperthreading? You may
need to check the documentation to see if it mentions hyperthreading in
connection with the processor. If yes, that is likely the reason for the
entry. Hyperthreading fools the system into thinking it has two processors.
I'm not positive but I believe that may be the reason for what you are
seeing.

My Sony P4 w/hyperthreading shows two processors.
